Extracellular vesicle (EV) and exosome research at IKMB: Transparent reporting and centralizing knowledge (EV-TRACK) and potential for clinical diagnostics

March 10, 2017 - 12:15

Abdou Elsharawy is an active member of the recent innovative EV-TRACK Consortium for transparent reporting and centralizing knowledge in EV research. The first Consortium report has recently published in Nat Methods. The EV-TRACK represents a crowdsourcing knowledgebase that centralizes EV biology and methodology. The main goal of the EV-TRACK is to stimulate authors, reviewers, editors and funders to put experimental guidelines into practice (EV-TRACK Consortium, Nat Methods, 2017;  Feb 28;14(3).

In addition, Abdou Elsharawy and his colleagues have recently published a study that demonstrates that enrichment and sensitive detection of miRNA carriers is a promising approach to detect tissue-related pathological changes in liquid biopsies, and has potential for clinical diagnostics (Elsharawy et al., Oncotarget, 2016; Nov 15;7(46).
