Prof. Dr. Stefan Schreiber

Professor Stefan Schreiber, Director and Founder of the Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology (IKMB) and Director of the Clinic for Internal Medicine I at Kiel Campus of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, is one of the most influential scientific minds of our time. In the current report "The World's most influential scientific minds 2014", published by the agency Thomson Reuters, he is named in two categories: "Clinical Medicine" and "Molecular Biology and Genetics". Thomson Reuters  bases the report on analyses of data using its Web of Science and InCites platforms to determine which researchers have produced work that is most frequently acknowledged by peers.

Professor Schreiber points out that the excellent interdisciplinary cooperation within the Cluster of Excellence "Inflammation at Interfaces" is an important factor for his successful work. The innovative approach of the Cluster of Excellence in translating fundamental research results directly into solutions for clinical work and patients is one-of-a-kind in Germany and Europe. Professor Schreiber is speaker of the Cluster of Excellence.

Thomson Reuters analysts assessed papers indexed between 2002 and 2012 in 21 broad fields of study. They tracked authors who published numerous articles that ranked among the top one percent of the most cited in their respective fields in the given year of publication. These documents represent research that the scientific community has judged to be the most significant and useful.

There are upwards of 3,200 researchers from around the world recognized in this study. 157 of them are working in Germany.
