Research Interest
My research focuses on investigating ancient zoonotic bacteria and viruses which had the ability to spread between animals and humans. By analysing their genomes, I aim to uncover the causes of past epidemics and identify genetic markers that contributed to their virulence. Since many of these ancient pathogens have persisted into the modern era, understanding their hosts, transmission, and evolution is crucial for combatting future outbreaks.
