Research Interest

In my daily work, I investigate the impact that human divergence and shifts in lifestyle had on the evolution and the function of the gut microbiome. I work both at the level of microbial communities and at the level of individual microbial trajectories. I am interested in the processes and dynamics of shifts in gut microbial compositions during human evolution but also in the bacterial lineages that co-migrate with human populations and how their genomes evolve and are shaped by human evolutionary events.
