Research Interest

My research interests revolve around the application of bioinformatics approaches to the study of genomes and transcriptomes. Here, one of my main areas of expertise is the sequencing, assembly, annotation and comparative analysis of complex eukaryotic genomes. Much of my past work has focused on combining genomic, transcriptomic and cross-genome data to answer different evolutionary questions, such as the emergence of species-specific traits or the origin and evolutionary trajectories of non-coding RNAs. Apart from my research, I also have a keen interest in the development of bioinformatic infrastructure within the context of high-performance computing.
