Research Interest

My research interests lie in two key areas: IBD and Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM). Within PEM, I’m studying the long-term, systemic effects it has on the body. To unravel this, I utilize traditional wet lab techniques with genetically modified cell models, animal studies, and ex vivo organoid models. I analyze patient-derived samples to ensure my research directly translates to clinical applications. In addition I am employing single-cell sequencing on various affected organs to illuminate the systemic changes triggered by PEM, pinpoint the underlying mechanisms, and ultimately pave the way for innovative therapeutic strategies.
