Research Interest

My aim is to increase patient benefit from biomedical research and to develop academic projects into drugs, dietary supplements, diagnostics or other products. For more than 20 years, I have been responsible for translational research and development projects, mainly in the fields of inflammation and infection. The resulting products are currently in all stages from preclinical to market. At the IKMB, I am coordinating the translational research activities of the Institute and of the Department of Internal Medicine I of the UKSH Campus Kiel in the context of the German Excellence Cluster “Precision Medicine in Chronic Inflammation”.
