Research Interest

My focus area is ancient human remains as a source of information about past life. I am specialized in palaeopathology and am particularly interested in the study of health and disease of the past. My task within the Ancient DNA research group is to bridge the gap between genetic evidence of disease, such as pathogen remains or immunogenetic markers, and the experienced disease as expressed in the skeletal phenotype. An important part of my daily work comprises the investigation of human bones. My greatest interest is in the early epochs of modern humans, such as the Neolithic and the Bronze Age.
